CNW SWIM MEET

The 2018 swim meet was very exciting, and with bunks 4-18 participating, you could tell it was going to be eventful. Although it was a little cold in the morning, everyone was anxious to start swimming. The Point O’Pines lake was divided into different lanes for swimmers. In the back of all the lanes there was a larger version of the ‘rock’ at Che-Na-Wah floating on the lake. When people got out of the lake, the most common thing to be heard was “The lake is unreasonably warm but freezing when you get out.”

Many swimmers from Che-Na-Wah who had finished were by the lake cheering on their friends who were still in the lake. Although the swim meet was really competitive and there was some pressure while swimming, everyone enjoyed themselves. Something the surprised many Che-Na-Wah campers was the five feet crib! Many people were surprised by how deep the lake was in general.

To find out more about the swim meet, I decided to ask  a swimmer from Che-Na-Wah, Sofia Munoz, some questions:

Q: Did you feel the swim meet was competitive?

A: Yes, it was very competitive but also really fun.

Q: Overall, did you enjoy the swim meet?

A: Yes, I had a lot of fun.

Q: I noticed there were diving boards in the back; did you use them?

A: No, I felt like they were too bumpy and elevated.

Q: How would you say the Point O’Pines lake was compared to Lake Balfour?

A: I like Lake Balfour better, its the best!

Overall, everyone seemed to really enjoy the swim meet, had lots of fun, and all did great! I would like to give a special shout-out to all the amazing swim staff who took everyone to the swim meet and helped everyone prepare for it!
